I'm brainlocked on this. All ideas will be appreciated. The network:
9600/G3/333MHz. Used as server. OS 8.6. Powertower Pro/G3/275MHz. OS 9.1. Beige G3/458MHz. OS 9.2.2 & 10.1.5 Router: SMC Barricade The Problem: I'm currently using the G3 as a print server. The printer is an Epson 777. My wife is in the middle of a large printing project, using the Powertower. Between the lockups on the G3 and the packet collisions on the network, I'm getting a headache and the router is having a nervous breakdown. I would like to set up the 9600 as a print server, but because of hardware configurations it needs to run 8.6, which doesn't support USB printer sharing. I've tried the CP and extension for USB printer sharing from OS 9 in 8.6. That's a real no go. I know that the printer could be connected serially to the router and then I could set up a windows or linux box as a server, but available space makes this difficult. Also, since I've never tried it before, I'm not sure if the differences in the software on the systems would pose problems. Any suggestions?
