There have been a lot of questions on this list about memory, and I've found
one site that answers questions about RAM very throughly is at Macgurus.

They're working on their site at the moment, so the easiest way I've found
to get their info is to use Google (or whatever you perfer) and type
MACGURUS and 9500 (or whatever your Mac is) and you'll see a wonderful page
full 'o answers to most every RAM question. They even show diagrams of most
Mac motherboards listing memory locations, and advise with RAM selection and
installation. I'm impressed with the depth of their (apparent) techncial
knowledge base. Check them out. (That said, they also sell RAM and other
products, but I've never bought from them, just tapped their knowledge base
several times.)
