Like the other responses say, good chance battery is weak. Does not have to
be dead.
Possibly slight corrosion on contacts.
Check other connections.

Looks like the first thing you do is go on line ...

Look in Date/Time CP ... "use a Network Time Server",
is it check-marked ?? If so click "server options...",
In next dialog box, is "automatically, when the system clock, blah, blah"
check-marked ?? 
If so, that's why the clock corrects ...

Suggestion; Radio Shack or an electronic store for new battery, easy
install. (Check date on battery when purchasing).
You can always take it back ...
