I just upgraded my PowerMac 7600 from a Sonnet 233MHz 604e to a Sonnet 400MHz G3/512k. After installing the software and the processor card, the computer ran perfectly and I could finally run OS X at a decent speed. A few days later, I shut down and tried to start it up again, and it wouldn't start. It will no longer start up with the G3 card. I get a bong and a black screen, and that's it. No other activity, and the only keystrokes that work are the reset command (can't clear PRAM or anything else). If I put the old card in it, it works just fine. I know the PRAM battery is not dead, and I've tried unplugging the power and removing the battery for a while, resetting PRAM (with other card), reinstalling the Sonnet software, and resetting the CUDA. Nothing seems to help. With the old upgrade card, I can boot either into my OS 9 or OS X partition, but with the G3, neither works, I don't even get the grey screen with the Mac on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
