Hello all,

I am fairly sure this has been covered before but the mailing list
archive's search facility does seem to search very well.

I have aquired a 7500/100 (Now a 132MHz) and a 7200/90. I am
trying to find Mac OS 8.5 or full 8.6 to install on the 7500 as the 7200
is meant more for parts or Linux. I see that Apple has finally
released 7.5 for free but still is behind the times as they don't sell
any pre-9.2 Mac OS anymore. eBay seems to have 8.5 or 8.6 CDs go for
$40, $50 or more. That is absolutely ridiculous. The OS should be
given away now that Apple has dumped it, but even if it is sold the
price asked is crazy. That is more than I paid for the 7500, 7200, 2
17" Apple monitors, and some keyboards combined. Can anyone point me to
a sane source that sells anything in the 8.5 or 8.6 range? I would love
to have a more up to date MacOS but for that price I will run either 7.6
or I will load OpenBSD or Linux. Sorry if this sounds rantish, it isn't
really meant as such (especially to the kind people of this list), but
as I own copies both before and after and Apple is unwilling to sell me
a copy, I am kind of at a loss as the demand seems to be outweighing the
supply of something that shouldn't have a supply problem :)

I have the following copies of Mac OS.

7.5 (Came with PowerMac 7100 - Sold, but sent out without OS)
7.6 (Purchased Universal Install CD)
9.2.2 (Came with iBook 600 but not used)
10.1 (Came with iBook 600)
10.2 (Purchased)

Thanks,
Bill
