On my 8600/G3 450, system 8.6,
I have a HP scsi 12x cd writer.
Although i have used it a short time,
this scsi writer from hewlett packard
works extremely well. Very, very, very FAST.
No coasters.
And it is bootable.
Price: $110, new.

I also have a 24x firewire writer.
The firewire writer totally sucks.
It is very very slow.
And it has made a lot of coasters,
even though it has "Burn Proof" technology
(whatever that is.)

>>>One option is to buy an old used SCSI-burner.
