Looking at the drives there's no screws or anything (on the > TJS there are two screws on the side close to the front of the drive) > there are screws that seem to hold the fan, and the ports but nothing > that looks like I could access the drive inside
You're looking to get inside the case and you don't see how? I have a LaCie case I thought I would have to pry open; after I did, I discovered where the screws were: under a little sticker. If I had removed one little sticker on the back (it might have been a model number or a UL listed or some such) the case would have come apart easily. Look for something like that on the back. On one external hard drive case, I found a 20MB inside, but it was impossible to get the ribbon cable off without destroying the cable. Still stumped about that one. Just frozen solid.
