Hello Listers! My thanks to the many of you who gave me great advice about my printing woes after I had upgraded two PMs from 8.1 to 8.5.
It turns out that I had to change my AppleTalk control panel port to the printer port. I then selected the LaserWriter 8 extension in the extensions manager. After a reboot, I went to the chooser to select the LaserWriter 8, which turned on AppleTalk, which then identified the LaserWriter Select I could not use in the wake of the upgrades. Voila!
