Last chance before I go to EBay...some of it sold the last time I posted MAKE A REASONABLE OFFER!! ...had a j700... I have the manuals and software disks where needed for everything. If you're unsure whether the CPU upgrades will fit your machine, try this page from XLR8yourmac: http://forums.xlr8yourmac.com/cpureview. lasso ..." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I went and read at the site, but wasn't sure even after reading quite a while this is the item that has me perplexed: NewerTech MaxPowr G3 400/200 Power PC 750 7MXP+400/200 $100 I just got a performa 6360 PPC from my brother in law as a thanksgiving gift. It can take a G3/ L2 cache card in the L2 cache slot, and can handle up to a G3 of 300 or even 400 and a cache of up to 1mb. but ad doesn't say its an L2 cache card, which is what stops me. if it's not that, then what is it and where in computer does it go? I don't know the archicture of the j700 so the serial model numbers leave me clueless. can you explain a little? - - - - - - - - then there's this choice item: 168-pin DIMMS 2 x 32 MB $16 each 2 x 128 MB $25 each now, I have been told that my machine can take a max of 128 megs of ram added, and supposedly the board doesnt care if the ram is all in one slot or spread over 2. so i am wondering if a single 128 meg stick would max me up. they have to be EDO DIMMS. are these? the pinnage is right, but the rest, it didnt say. everything sounds like it's from the same family and era of mac as mine, so it would SEEM like they would be useable and compatible, but this is a lot of money to risk on a dud, right? for the same reason, I am eyeing the Firewire/USB PCI adapter card Macally in box $80 I was thinking of getting a sonnet trio, which I hear can give me SCSI controller power for up to 4 IDE hard drives and 2 USB ports and 3 firewire ports, all on the same card. ambitious, but this would give me at least a beginning taste of that versatility. seeing as how I only have one PCI slot to work with, I have to choose judiciously. perhaps i could use a pass thru angle adapter and get both video expansion and this to function thru the same single PCI slot? can you tell me a little bit more? janet schwartz in L.A. http://community.webtv.net/mensabrains/BADCODE -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
