Ah. Any way I can tell what kind of firmware is loaded?

I believe all Trio production is loaded with UATA/133 firmware.

It is the basic PDC20269 chip which is capable of UATA/100 or UATA/133, but
it is actually characterized at the time of manufacture.

On these specific chips, the EEPROM, which actually contains the firmware, is
on-chip, not contained in a separate part.

However, that firmware is still FLASH-able after manufacture, just as the
multiple-function ATTO card is.

Both have more than one function behind a "PCI Bridge" ... USB, Firewire and
UATA functions in the case of the Sonnet Trio, and two UW-SCSI functions in
the case of the ATTO (for the UL2D series).

Update ...

I have confirmed that Rev. B of the Sonnet Trio card is programmed at the
factory with UATA/100 firmware, and that you must download a firmware update
in order to get UATA/133.

I have not seen a Rev. C Trio card, yet, so it may well be that all Trio
cards will need to be updated for the foreseeable future.

Certainly, Trio cards need to be updated for other reasons, anyway, including
better USB and Firewire compatibility, and for better compatibility with the
latest Mac OS and Macs.
