I experienced the same problem with my Logitech Optical wheel mouse.  The
included Logitech driver CD doesn�t work with my 7300 G3.  USB Overdrive, a
shareware utility, works great and I am able to use all the buttons in any
program with no hassles.  Do a www.google.com search for "usb overdrive" and
you should find the software..
