My web server <http://oscar.pharmacy.arizona.edu> is a Performa 6214
running 8.6 that I literally found in the trash (hence it's name). I'm
using Quid Pro Quo as a web server software on it.

However, to use *your* domains you will need to register those domain
name and get IP service under that name from someone, it isn't merely a
matter of saying 'I am www.mycooldomainname.com ' and serving
away...it's a *leetle* more complex than that.

Quid Pro Quo is seriously unsupported software. It can be found on the
web (I have a copy of the software) or I think I scrounged it off an old
MacAddict disk, but the developer has apparently vanished from the face
of the earth. Runs fine though. I have 2.1, the last version 2.2 fixed a
Y2K bug (which is only cosmetic: according to my web server logs it is
the year 102.)

MacHTTP is a little better in that it's officially alive:

<http://sourceforge.net/projects/machttp/>

I have a third possibility: vqserver, which is a Java-based server. I've
not messed with it at all. <http://www.vqsoft.com/vq/server/>

Here are the instructions for that:
