Try booting off of the CD and holding down Delete-Option-Command-Shift (aka DOCS, Delete is the large delete key). If all goes well the HD WON'T mount. If it boots okay that means that there is a problem with the HD. At this point try doing a driver update to the HD and then restart to see if it boots okay. You could also try using Drive Setup to mount the disk and then run the installer. If DOCS doesn't boot without mounting the HD then try unplugging the power cable from the drive and booting. Once it's booted then plug in the power cable and try the above.
