OK, before someone gives me a hassle about talking about this model here, I
belong to several of these Mac forums, I own 14 Macs; including 5 PowerMacs,
so I don't feel like belonging to every forum! With that out of the way, I
have a Quadra 840 AV that appears to power on normally, the CD bay opens and
closes, the power indicator illuminates, etc., but there is no video, no hard
drive activity andthe floppy drive doesn't function. Keyboard and mouse
commands aren't available, save for the power switch on the keyboard. I have
heard the power supply may be the culprit; but if that is the case, why are
some of the abovre things working and others not? I have opened the Mac up,
checked all of the cabling (which is connected OK) and replaced the PRAM
battery twice (just to make sure!). I am stumped! Is it possibly a
motherboard issue, and if so, what? I also made sure the RAM was installed
correctly--it is. This Mac was working fine until one day it just stopped. I
know it's nearly a decade old, but I enjoyed it, and I'd like to get it
running again! If it is the power supply, how hard are new ones for the 840AV
to find? TIA, Heather
