I trashed my Virex 6 (still have a CD) and put Norton in the trash, as I have heard that this can also cause problems. Maybe I should have added Conflict Catcher there too, as I've heard that this can cause nasty conflicts! Anyway, this didn't help, so I moved Norton back. Booted with extensions off (held down shift key) and the 9600 was live, but somehow almost all of the images I'd stored there were gone. Restarted to bring back extensions... and as soon as the desktop icons appeared it froze again. Also the Extensions Manager places itself in the Extensions Disabled folder every time I boot, so the CP disappears from the CP folder... looks like a faulty OS install (9.1).
