The AppleTalk and TCP/IP control panels should have popup menus that allow
you to switch from Printer Port to Ethernet. It's a good idea to switch both
to Ethernet so you can connect with both newer Macs running the faster
TCP/IP and older Macs that only support AppleTalk. If you're just on a local
network, set the IP address in TCP/IP to 192.168.x.n where x is from 1-253
and n is from 1-253. To connect to another computer, n must be the same on
both and x must be different on each computer. Set the subnet mask to
255.255.255.0. If you set up both for TCP/IP over Ethernet, you can send
files much faster than standard AppleTalk.
