Open the TCP/IP control panel. Select User Mode (or whatever it is in English - I'm running a Norwegian system). Select Advanced. That gives you an extra Options button in the lower right hand corner. Click it. Make sure "Load only when necessary" is checked on. If not, your Mac will try to connect whenever it's turned on. At least this happens in Syetm 8.0/8.1
