There are several USB media readers for each of the camera media cards. Most
are compatible with 9 and X. Buy one install the software and insert the
card. It will appear as a floppy disk and your photos will be inside several
folders. Deal with them as you would any file.

Graphic converter is a good alternative to PhotoShop and only $40 or so.
If you're running X iPhoto will do basic editing. There are some others to
for X and 9, go to versiontracker.com and search for photo editing apps.
