That would be an interesting project. When I got my 9600 it was kind of 
annoying seeing the A/V cutout and not being able to use the module. You 
could get the full A/V module used with an 8500/8600 and desolder 
everything except for the RCA/S-Video plugs, basically making it a 
mounting board. Then get a PCI A/V card. Desolder the plugs on it and 
fashion a shielded extension cable to go from the card to the plugs on 
the module.
