Well, I know what I'd do in your case. Run some tests of your own to see what the differences are. I'd run Nortons benchmarks on both machines at the same time, and watch and note how they progress through all four sections (CPU, Disk, Video & FPU). If you have a large graphic file, do an intensive change to a picture. Make up your own tests. Do both the machines have equivelent video cards, hard drives, and running the same OS? The processor is only part of the speed for a computer.
For example. My wife has two iMacs. One is a 266MHz and the other is a 500Mhz. She would comment often on how the 266 was faster. It was all based on how long it took to boot up, and slower window openings, etc. Of course, the 500 had OS9 and the other has OS 8.6. The 500 had a larger hard drive, more programs on it, an external SuperDisk drive, etc. When you watched them run, the 500 seemed less snappy until you had to do anything more than open windows.
