I have never heard of the imic but I use the Sound Manager i/o to
record into Deck, SoundEdit and ProTools Free (with playthrough enabled
to headphones or hifi) under 9.1 on a Umax Pulsar and an 8500 - usually
from reel to reel or cassette - but sometimes with a conventional
microphone (single channel with adapter) with increased gain and little
problems so far although I could do with a better mic - but who couldn't
do with a better something?
One of the problems seems to be keeping playthrough enabled as the
check box has a way of unchecking itself occasionally and access to the
sound control panel is not possible until the app which has control of
the settings has quit.
I'd like Digital Performer - I hear it has a preamp aboard...
