I recall someone mentioning this problem with a Yamaha cdrw and have
had a similar problem in the past with all three of my CD devices - a
Toshiba 12x, a Matshita 24x (apple original) and a Traxdata 4260 Pro -
not mounting volumes that I have burned to disk - mostly the Traxdata.
The laser lens needs to be cleaned occasionally which involves
pulling the front bezel and removing the top cover of the CD device to
expose the workings and access the lens - this can be cleaned carefully
(very carefully) with a cotton bud dampened with water - no other fluids
should be used as they may leave streaks on the lens.
It cures my problem - not for the fainthearted though.

     Pete
