Are you using Appletalk on the ethernet ports? if so, going to TCP/ip will gain you nothing, speedwise. If you're dialing up for tcp/ip access on the modem, then this is on the PPP connection, you can establish Appletalk on the Ethernet and then you'll be fine as well.
