Hi everyone,

I've asked a couple of questions about OS 9 vs. OS 8,
regarding performance on a Power Mac 5400. I've got
some tabs on OS 8.5, but before I buy, I thought I'd
toss out a final question to the experts.

If I'm really sold on upgrading to OS X, via a G3 or
G4 daughtercard (presuming it's possible in this
machine), am I going to spend more than it's worth,
considering that I could get an iMac for just a little
bit more?

One of the eventual uses of The Mac that we're going
to have will be video editing. Granted, complexity
and quality can strain the resources of a fast G4 with
oodles of RAM, and a 5400 with the upgrade card isn't
the same as a native G3 or G4. Of course, if we were
shooting for pro-level quality, I wouldn't even be
considering this stuff; but we're not. I would like
to get to use iMovie, and I'm not sure if it's still
restricted to the iMacs or not.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any feedback I can get on the
subject.

Daniel
