Any Mac with a firewire port (or more precisely, with the firewire extensions installed) will run iMovie, though you will need to convert any captured footage to a dv stream before iMovie will work; iirc the 5400 AIO doesn't have a pci slot to add Firewire. That said, an iMac for a little bit more will definitely be the better deal than upgrading the 5400.
