Maybe it's some kind of upgrade conspiracy. ;) There's always that pressure to upgrade if you're into games. Every new game seems twice as demanding as the previous. I wish the gamemakers would realize that many of us can't afford to upgrade every 3 months. I can't think of any software off hand, but I've used hardware that supposedly required faster processors: Gravis USB Gamepad, "requires" g3/g4--Worked fine on my 9600/350 (604ev) and 7500/200 (604e). Voodoo5 5500 video card, "requires" g3/g4--worked fine on the stock 9600/350, and plenty of people use them with slower processors. Soundblaster Live! Soundcard, "requires" g3/g4--worked just fine on the stock 9600/350. I'm curious about the products that require a native g3/g4 machine to run and supposedly won't work with an upgrade.
