If Apple were paying lots of money for their products to be featured in TV and film, don't you think they'd throw quite a legal fit to see that the Apple logo is often covered over with a sticker of some sort? No, I don't believe Apple pays for product placement (not that I've ever heard of, and I'm SURE they haven't when the logo is covered).
My impression, and I've read many articles about the entertainment and film industry that back me up, is that the (seeming) majority of bright, talented, and creative people working in film and TV perfer to use a Macintosh and the Mac OS. Nothing more. So the props used in many shows and movies tend to also be Macs. No payola, no Apple Corp. plots. BTW, all the computers (and they changed over the years) on Jerry Seinfield's desk in his apartment were Macs, starting with an Apple Plus, and going on to a Duo dock and lastly (that I remember), a Twentieth Anniv. Mac. There may have been a few others, but I remember seeing those. Also, my favorite, all the laptops used by Jill in 'Home Improvement' were Apple, but they usually had a strawberry sticker over the logo when it was a G3 Powerbook. Oh yeah, and I remember reading that in the first season of Fox's '24', it was a well-kept secret that ALL of the good guys used Apple Powerbooks, and (hah!) ALL the bad guys used PCs! (Until exposed, it was difficult to tell who was good and who was evil, but someone noticed the connection, and asked the producers about it; they smiled and didn't comment...) Doubt even Apple would have thought of that, but the creative-types in Hollywood, they thought of that..! -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
