Sorry for the "me too" message, but this is the exact problem I am
having with my 5500.  I am putting a 4gig that initializes and
everything, but wont load software without all the same heartburn that
cbirds is describing...

I finally put the disk in another computer and loaded 9 on it, but now
the 5500 wont recognize 9.

Sheesh.

Going to try the same with 8.5 when my 8.5 arrives in the mail.  Let
you know if it works.  There has got to be some other workaround for
this problem, though.
