When I had an XLR8 G3/225 in my 9500, I had all 12 RAM slots filled, with
an assortment of 128 M down to 16 M modules, all of them interleaved, with
no problems whatsoever. Worked wonderfully!

Then, just a few days ago, I replaced the G3 with a new Sonnet G4/700
card, and quickly found, like others before me, that Sonnets do not like
interleaved memory. I also found out that it didn't like my Ixmicro video
card, either. Rats! So I de-interleaved the memory, and that worked, and I
should be receiving my new ATI 7000 video card tomorrow. If I had known
that I'd have to replace my video card(s) along with the processor (I also
use an old Radius card to drive the smaller secondary 19" monitor), I'd have
thought twice about upgrading and considered buying a new DP Mac. Maybe.

BTW, the G4/700 is fast, beats the daylights out of the G3/225 (overclocked
to 280 MHz). I'm very pleased with the speed, but at what price? Well,
more than I thought. I bought the card direct from Sonnet and saved about
$30 or $40 bucks over Mac Mall prices (which I noticed have just dropped a
bit more), including shipping.

I've also been running OS 8.6 for a few years now, and didn't intend to
upgrade anytime soon since it's worked so well for me, but now that I'm G4
enabled, I feel the urge to impliment 9.2 along with it's AltiVec goodies...
