I doubt you can use the Ethernet and AAUI ports simulataneously. I don't know anything about the 7600, but usually, integrated network ports share interrupts and other resources so if you tried to use them both at once, one would have a conflict.
I'm guessing you want to provide internet through your DSL router to both your "work" network and your "home" network. If you connect the DSL modem to a router that you obtain from Best Buy (and probably also obtain a switch as most routers only have 4-8 network ports and it sounds like you may need more.) and then connect all your other machines to the routers built in switch, that would work. Why can't you establish password security to folders and whatnot that you don't want accessed generally on the network? Without that, if you really want to keep the two networks seperate, you'll be getting a little more complicated. You'll need a proxy server of some time so that you can route IP between two subnets... then you can keep your work network on one subnet and your home network on the other... The spliter you speak of is basically just that, a splitter. It will convert one connector into two so that you can split the line to plug in more than one machine... But honestly, I would cascade another switch onto your router and run each machine to a switched port. Your performance will thank you. THe splitter is not a router and won't act as one. If you split a line coming out of your DSL modem, you'll basically just be splitting the line. It will not give you two seperate DSL lines. To put it simply... lets say your DSL modem gave you a bandwidth speed of 384Mbps... If you split a line coming out of the DSL modem, you'll be sharing that 384Mbps connection between the two lines. You won't be getting a full 384Mbps on both. Again, take your DSL modem directly to the router, then connect each machine to the router, or to a cascaded switch if you don't have enough ports...
