Yes, but I wouldn't.  Xtra current draw = Xtra heat.  The less heat 
inside your Mac's box the better.

Also... the surge current of having your monitor and peripherals all 
firing up at the same time could blow (or come very close to blowing) 
whatever protection is on that socket - probably just a fuse.

Safer, IMO, to use separate power strips, each with its own surge 
protectors.  That way when crud happens, the damage is limited.

Switch boxes for audio are easy enuf to make.  Radio Shack carries a 
good parts selection.  If you use a rotary switch tho, make sure it's 
break-before-make - don't want to overload the input on the mobo.
