Now...this brings up a question I have about my future upgrades (to a 8500av/120). Is there really any point to spending more $ on an ATA-133 or ATA-100 instead of going with cheaper ATA-66 (which, like everything else I'd like to buy for this machine is around $50)? I mean, with the throughput limitations of an 8500 board, are you maxed out with an ATA-66 anyway? I have many IDE drives that I would like to eventually put in my 8500, but I don't want to spend the extra money for faster ATA if it won't make a speed difference (or MUCH of a speed difference). And while I'm hovering around this topic, can anyone confirm/deny the ability to change over (via flashing rom, etc) a Promise Ultra66 PCI card for PC into a "VST" card for the mac? I think I read that its possible, but requires swapping an EEPROM for an EPROM and I don't know anything more about that than what one looks like :) I have been doing some poking around in other places for these answers and I'm just still a little confused on both. If there is a better place to ask this stuff, I'd be happy to take it there. Thanks, Caitlin -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
