It depends on what kind of DDS (computer version of DAT) drive it is. There are DDS-1,2,3,4 drives. It's likely DDS-1 or 2. IIRC DDS-1 is 1.3 Gb and DDS2 is 2 or 4 Gb. SCSI Probe can tell you what model of drive it is (probably HP) and a google search can find the details. DDS tapes are readily available. Dantz's Retrospect is THE backup software to use. There are a couple of versions of it that work with tape drives, the low end version or two do not so make sure you get the right one. I have a DDS-3 drive on my server and it is great for backup. > >What can my 8150 do - presume it can do some more 'interesting' stuff as >it's a WGS. As a rule, WGSs were stock machines with additional software (mainly AppleShare Server) and sometimes additional hardware (like your tape drive). In addition to the tape drive the 8150 would have probably had 1 or two harddisks of larger than normal (at the time) capacity. So, no it can't really do anything more than an 8100 other than tape backup. > >Where can I cet the client/server software for it (ie Appleshare etc.) > >What expansion options are avaliable and does anyone have some old part's >they'd care to dispose of :-) Depending on how it's configured it may have unused drive bays and it probably has three free NuBus slots. You can stuff it with memory as it has 8 SIMM slots (memory must be installed in pairs.) p.s. As this is a NuBus Mac you'd be better off asking in the 1st-powermacs list. -- Clark Martin Redwood City, CA, USA Macintosh / Internet Consulting "I'm a designated driver on the Information Super Highway" -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
