As a general tip it is worthwhile, but it is not universal. Some email applications have the option to rewrap a message before sending. Other email applications have options to set specific line lengths on text mail. If the URL is longer than one line these options will introduce a hard return into the URL which will generally make it fail when received. In a list such as this, there is always the possibility that the message is being rewrapped by the list software. This is probably always the case for the digest version. Apple Data Detectors available from Apple, will parse highlighted text and does an excellent job of reassembling broken URLs into useful links. This package is based on AppleScript and works through a contextual menu.
