Hello: The computer I am writing about is a PM 7300 233/64/2GB/4xCD/10-100pci card/ATI Xclaim3D 8MB.
I am trying to play VideoCD quality MPEG files on this mac, but the frame rate fluctuates, and then the audio loses sync. I have tried different resolutions, to no avail. I should mention that I am using OS 9.1, with the ATI 4.2 Drivers, and Quicktime 6.0. The best frame rate I can get from QT is 29.5 fps, and the video is 29.97. Sometimes, it will drop to 18fps, and then sit at 20fps. I have looked everywhere, and am finding little. I think the current hardware setup should be enough to play the files well. Am I that wrong? Is there a better player I can use, or do I really need more memory? What can I do to get better performance? Thanks, David -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
