On a stock Apple CD-ROM, (from a 9600), I need to know something about the termination jumper, as the diagram on it isn't real clear. (forgive me if these are stupid questions; I'm sorta new to the whole SCSI thing)

There is a jumper on it labeled "Power term" I believe, and it has a jumper cap on it. Does this mean it's terminated, or do you have to take it off to achieve termination? (again, the diagram doesn't make it real clear)

I know on the ZIP drive, having the term jumper capped achieves termination. But here's the funny thing; As of right now, both the ZIP drive and CD-ROM have the term jumper jumped/capped. And everything works fine this way. (when I had first put the system together, it wouldn't boot properly, until I discovered that the term jumper on the ZIP drive wasn't capped; worked fine after I capped it). But, if I unhook the ZIP drive, and then plug my IDE burner into the IDE card, it won't boot.

While I still haven't figured out if that's just an issue with the IDE burner not being supported, I figured I'd ask the list about the termination thing, just in case it's an issue with the Apple CD-ROM not being terminated properly.

I also plan to eventually try taking out the Apple CD-ROM entirely, and see if it will boot with the burner installed then. I hate to do that, as I hear there are issues booting OS CD's from anything but an Apple CD-ROM.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Stace
