I'm looking for the receipt right now. > A brief quote from an old link (circa 1997): "We've encountered many intermittent problems in the field when users install 64 or 128MB modules based on 4x4 (16Mb Technology). Since we have'nt been able to duplicate the problem with our test equipment, we've had to make some educated guesses based our knowledge and experience with Apple.
* The large quantity of DRAM chips exceeds the capacitance loading specification. * The large quantity of DRAM chips exceeds the 'Power Budget' of the memory bus. Other 3rd party memory manufacturers claim to have no similar problems." An intermittant hang problem with a used 7200 was cleared when I removed a composite 32MB RAM stick (aka 4x4 technology) the previous owner must have put in there. It took a lot of digging to figure this out. I suspect the G3 upgrades are less tolerant of this type of cheap RAM than your base machine was. At least good RAM is a lot cheaper than it was a couple years ago. Mike -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
