A G3/450 MHz card can be found for about US$100. Get 1MB cache. (The 500MHz cards are usually more $, for minimal performance difference.) 128MB RAM is US$ 25-30. Get 2 sticks. If you can find an iXMicro Ultimate Rez video accelerator card, it should be about US$50. This makes the machine substantially more snappy.
However, consider getting a G3 beige minitower. These can be found (with some searching) for US$200.
