How does one update firmware? My colleague's imac at work has been behaving badly. Somebody screwed up the system software. On start up the usual folder with a ? So I used my g4 apple care cd. Started fine. I the started from a (G4) OS 9.2 CD (with the c on the key board pressed). Started from the cd no problem. Tried to install 9.2 and kept getting the message 'Your mac's firmware is out of date. Firmware updates can be found in the CD extra's folder on your mac os CD. Refer to the mac os installation manual for more info.'
The problem is that the info in the manual does not tell me how to install the needed firmware. I checked the Extras folder and sure there's lots of stuff in there but no installation directions. I feel dumb. What am I missing? I used the same Cd last week to install 9.2 in another imac without any problems. TIA.
