I lined three AA batteries in a column with all the + ends
facing the same direction. I taped them together and taped
the wires from the original battery's connector to the ends
of the column. I measured the voltage at the connector. It
was 4.39 volts.

The 4400/200 works. Now I'm trying to get it to network
with the eMac over the Ethernet cable. So far, I've been
unsuccessful, but I'm getting there.

The OS8 on the PM4400 didn't have AppleTalk installed, so I
did that, but there's some problem with the Ethernet
software on the 4400 yet.
