Hello,
I recently decided to add additional ram to my 8500. It had, before the
upgrade, 128mb and I bumped it up to 352 (with 2 ea. 128mb sticks from SMS
Memory, Naples, FL). After adding the ram, if I boot up with Virtual Memory
enabled, the machine will lock up, when I start an application. Even if I
don't try to start an application, the Finder will lock up after I access
the Apple Menu or open one the HD's.
I've tried to Ram tests with Tech Tool 3.05 but it will also lock her
up.
I can restart with VM disabled and the machine runs like a champ. With
352mb of ram, I realize most, if not, all of you would just say, "Just keep
VM disabled" but my curiosity has the best of me.
My knowledge of the Mac has increased considerably since joining this group.
Thank you,
Michael Malone
