Well, this was straight from the Sonnet website, however, I'm pretty famliliar since I do these upgrades myself often. I have used 1 mb cache before so yes, they do come larger if still made or if you still can find them. Personally if I had say, a 6116 to upgrade, rather than the 1 mb cache I'd go for the 233 G3 card.
