Actually, there was a limited-time promotion (tied to one of the Mac 
trade shows, IIRC) during which you could download the program for 
free, which I did. You didn't get a state program nor was tech 
support included, but you did get the complete federal program.

It turned out to be worth exactly what I paid for it. I had repeated 
freezes and crashes, and when it came time to print out the return, 
page 1 of Form 1040 disappeared without a trace. I never was able to 
find it. I had to redo it by hand.

It would have taken less time to do the entire return manually.
