Forget trying to tackle it, get ahold of the seller, and get your money
back.

Subject: 7500 mobo unsoldered chip

Hi,
I recently bought a 7500 mobo to put in a 7200 case.
Problem is it came with a desoldered chip... That was my first try at
the swap list, I wonder if it is good manner on this list to send DOA
item without telling the buyer...
Anyhow the desoldered chip is marked 156S0140 with 2 letters D back
to back ( I have seen the logo of this company before but cannot
remember its name.
It is situated at the right (looking from the front) of the processor
connector at a place marked DL 2 on the mobo.
Anyone know what is this chip doing? It reminds me of an oscillator
of some sort but not sure.
I am a seasoned soldering man with many years of practice but the problem
is...
someone has been there before me!
The chip itself is badly burnt from bad orientation of the pencil
while soldering. And the trace on the mobo where the chip goes has
been abused to say the least.
As for the chip itself, I think it is the same that is on another
dead mobo (7300), so I can use this one I guess.
Anybody care to give info, recommandation etc before I tackle the job...
Hopefully waiting for your wisdom,
JCT
