On the other hand macam works great with my old USB Quickcam Express 
which didn't work with anything besides Windows or Linux. ;-)

I suggest finding a brand of webcam that comes with 8.x -> 9.x drivers.  
Some of the $79.00 ones ay Target seem to have MacOS drivers now - just 
saw that in a store recently.
