Referring to slow 8500, at 21:35 -0500, 3/26/03, (Kevin Willis) eloquently, albeit succinctly, elucidated:
> I have a 8500 with a NewerTech G3 300 running at 336 Mhz. It has 304 > megs of RAM and a ATI Xclaim 8Mb video card. > I mostly use it for e-mail and internet. What can I do to squeeze a > little more speed out of it? > Are there extensions I can turn off to speed it up? You could look for "Extension Overload" on Google. That might help. Is there a > "defragmenting" utility that can be run? There are several. But I wouldn't hold out much hope. I could send you " CP Optimizer" its not too large and last I knew, free. > I thought I read that there is a memory test that can be turned off? > Would that speed things up? Probably not. It usually, IIRC, just slows the startup. but to get trhere hold down option-command when you open the memory control panel. That's what little I know. Hopefully you'll get some advice from others as well. Paul -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
