2 x 1 mb is enough for it to start the monitor, my one as 4 slots but 
one slot seems broken and a little metal cube at the side of it (slot 
4) looks fried, if you a wramstick in that one, the screen becomes 
cross striped at 256 colours,  not 1000 or a million,  and the speed 
does not improve, if you leave slot 4 empty but uses the other 3 it 
works great, dunno why it is like that, but I discovered it to late 
to make an argument with the seller.
