Thanks for your input. The converter does NOT have anything sw or
whatever on it, it is just a connector.

You point out below that resetting PRAM may be required.

I have a program that displays PRAM and I see no mention of resolution
as a part of the PRAM stuff - what does this mean?

NOT - JUST A CONNECTOR

to a higher resolution than the monitor is capable of

READING THE PRAM reveals no record of resolution???
