In simple English, it means that FireWire Target Disk Mode only works on internal hard drives that are connected to the ATA bus on the computer's motherboard -- and then only with a master drive, never a slave. It will not work with slave drives, ATAPI (CD-ROM, DVD, etc.) drives, or SCSI drives, which can never be run from the motherboard's ATA bus. >to be able move back and forth only one of them >needs to be in targetdiskmode, not right ? To move files between two Macs, you either need to network them (ethernet, AirPort, etc.) or connect one to the other using FireWire or SCSI Disk Mode. >and what is the different of Targetdiskmode or SCSImode ? why do you >need to use firewire? Pismo doesn't have SCSI. Thus, it cannot support SCSI Disk Mode. It does have FireWire, so if you want to connect it to your 8600 as an external drive, FireWire Disk Mode is your only option. That said, and fast as it can be, using ethernet is probably a lot easier. -- Dan Knight, president, Cobweb Publishing, Inc. <http://cobwebpublishing.com> <http://lowendmac.com> <http://digital-views.com> <http://digigraphica.com> <http://lowendpc.com> <http://reformed.net> Unix for stability.
