Does anybody have any low-cost solutions besides Disk First Aid to try
and repair a Firewire drive that won't mount.

I had a Firewire 40gig Western Digital hooked up to my 8500 Frankenmac
and was using it to render video. The drive stopped responding and now
9 doesn't see it as having any valid volumes - Disk First Aid doesn't
see it at all!

Any options would be appreciated - I'm trying to avoid losing the data
on it so I'll only re-initiallize it if there's no other solution.
